Biography:

David Cunningham was born on March 15, 1954 on a family farm in Kansas, the youngest of three siblings, and after a move to Missouri, he studied theater at University of Missouri in Kansas City. After graduation, he decided to follow his dreams of being on Broadway and gravitated to New York City. Adopting the stage name David Cane, he acted in plays like Samuel Beckett’s Endgame, became a stage manager on Broadway, and worked at Palace Theater on Crimes of the Heart as well as with Linda Haverman on La Cage Aux Folles Musical. David went on to earn a Masters of Clinical Psychology at Columbia College and even completed the required courses for his doctorate degree in clinical psychology at Syracuse University. For a short time, he was a counselor but decided to move in another direction and became vice president of Pearson Communications as well as Communications Director of Information Systems Technology. After David retired, he moved back to Missouri to be near his family. During his retirement, he drew plans and helped build various family projects, put together family calendars, and created family cookbooks. An accomplished thespian, David was working on a series of plays about family and duty when he died in 2015.
